Student Life

House System

Martin Saints’ House system is drawn from the 1,000 year-old tradition of Christian education exemplified in the colleges at Oxford and Cambridge. The Houses provide real, tangible community within the larger school, giving students the opportunity to take ownership, fulfill the call to leadership, to cultivate the virtues. Each House is led by student prefects and a faculty moderator, as well as student captains with responsibility for the spiritual, academic, service, and social life of the House.

Spiritual Life

Every teacher at Martin Saints is a missionary and a minister, ready to mentor students in the Catholic faith. Every class starts with prayer, and connections with our faith are integrated into all aspects of the curriculum. Faith and reason, science and religion, are complementary at Martin Saints.

Hard questions are always welcome! We have a “theology Q&A” box, where anyone can ask an anonymous question anytime. Roughly once a month, we gather the whole school to discuss the latest questions. Questions and conversation are normal parts of exploring and growing up in the faith.

We also have regular, daily school devotions. On any given day, the whole school might gather for Mass, rosary, Liturgy of the Hours, lectio divina, Benediction, or informal talks.

Athletics

Since a human person is both body and soul, an integrated education will foster the development of the whole person. Athletics are a crucial part of the formation of students at Martin Saints. Besides gym class, which is required of all students, we are actively developing athletic programs in different sports. We’re proud of how our teams are growing and the spirit they bring to the school community at large. Athletes at Martin Saints get to play, learn, and build the program with us. As a member school of the Penn-Jersey Athletic Association, we currently have the following offerings:

** PIAA - Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association

*** PJAA - Penn-Jersey Athletic Association

Note: We are full members of the PIAA, and we have provisional status with the PJAA. The PIAA allows us to reach state level competitions as we have done in the past in cross country and track & field. The PJAA is a league that provides competitions so that we qualify for participation in the PIAA state championships.
